The iconic reef at Domes Beach on the west coast of the island will see intense competition again next month when the top surfers from Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and around the globe gather on March 13 –15, 2020 for the Corona Pro 36th edition, the most prestigious surf event in the Caribbean. Domes hold an historic place in surfing history as it was the site of the 1968 World Surfing Championships. This year, it will mark the start of the Corona Pro Surfing Circuit #13 Tour 2020 – 2021 with the Corona Pro 36th Edition.

This will be the first event of the 2020 – 2021 Tour which ends on March 2021 with the final event of the tour back at Domes. The Corona Pro 36th Edition will start the race to crown the 2020 - 2021 Corona Pro Circuit Champions for both the men’s and women’s competitors. The competition season is supported by APSPR (Association of Professional Surfers of Puerto Rico) and consists of three events. Each has over $46,500 in prize money. The Men’s and Women’s winner will take home a first place check for $10,000. A field of 60 or more contestants is expected that will include competitors from P.R., US, Caribbean Islands, Central, South America and around the globe. Last year defending champs of this event are Rafael Pereira (VNZ) and María Chelsea Roett (BBD).

Last year top ratings leaders for the Men are: Rafael Pereira (VNZ), Brian Toth (PR), Darren Muschett (PR), Mauricio Díaz, Cristian Rivera Benítez (PR), Ricardo Delgado (PR), Alejandro Moreda (PR) and Joshua Burke (BBD). Pereira, Burke, Muschett and Toth are all previous winners of APSPR events.

On the ladies side the current points leaders are: Alexis Engstrom (PR), María Kuzmovich (PR), Chelsea Roett (BBD), Molly Kirk (US), Amy Murphree (PR), Jolari Carreras (PR), Cassidy McClain (US). Engstrom, Kuzmovich and Roett are all previous winners of APSPR events.

The APSPR was founded in 2001 and regulates the sport of professional surfing in Puerto Rico and in that capacity sanctions and coordinates surfing events for men and women on an international level. Since APSPR began eighteen years ago, Corona has been the strongest supporter of Puerto Rico pro surfing, this event mark the 13th Tour and will be the 36th edition of the Corona Pro. “The continued support of Corona shows a huge commitment to the sport and it’s athletes” said Mr. Vega, founder of the APSPR.

be received with payment no later than Wednesday March 4, 2020. Past Wednesday March 4, 2020, a late entry fee of $35.00 will be charged. Entry deadline is Saturday, March 7, 2020. Surfers who do not comply with deadline, the entry will be accepted under following conditions If there is available space, no seeding points to consider, your place on the draw will be allocated at sole discretion of the APSPR, will incurr in extra charges.
